My son comes to visit!

My oldest son came to visit today! Yay! It was so wonderful to see him as always. This time I hadn't seen him since Xmas! We took some pics and here is one of me and him. And also one of him and my youngest...my babygirl!

My First Felting! A Success!

I was working on making some coasters actually but couldn't find any pattern anywhere with dimensions and roughly the amount of skrinkage...sooo...I decided to make a bookmark and test shrink the wool. I used Caron Felt-It by the wayin Rose Garden.

I definately won't make my squares with as many stitches cast on as it would be way to long for coasters. But, as a bookmark...it turned out just fine.

I cast on 35 stitches and did garter stitch until my piece was about 3 inches (I forgot to measure exactly). I machine felted. I LOVE it! I can't wait to do my coasters!!

Just had to share my new skill. Have a great week!

What I've been doin

I've been reading actually...tons of reading. But when I've pulled out my knitting, I've been working on my afghan and my skinny scarf! I really haven't done any knitting on my 3 Crosses dishcloth lately. And I certainly haven't finished my second sock made on my Knifty Knitter. *eyeroll* Yep second sock syndrome. I hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather. We've had a late frost tonight. Ick. I'm reading for warm weather.

Pen Pals

I've been having so much fun with my knitting pen pals. I got a lovely Easter card from Christina and today I got a card from Lora with the tiniest little sock in it! I LOVE it! What am I going to do with it? Don't know but I love it. Right now I have it displayed on top of my computer monitor.
So, thanks guys for my card and my sockie! You are wonderful!!!

Lola's new do

Lola got a haircut! She got a Lion Cut to be precise. She looks so adorable, I just had to put her on here. And Lexi posed her with one of my preemie loomed hats on her. I started my new crosses dishcloth but it isn't much to see yet. I've worked some more on my skinny scarf and finished almost another block on my afghan/blanket. Nothing terribly exciting here...

Springing Up Flowers

Ok, so I need to work on my blocking. lol. I'm not so good at it. But the dishcloth turned out just fine. Here is where I got the pattern and it's free! http://krisknits.blogspot.com/ It is called Springing Up Flowers.
I've decided on my next one. It is called Knitted Three Crosses and you can find it here http://www.knittingknonsense.com./3crossescloth.html.\ I'm doing it in the lavender as I mentioned...kinda an Easter cloth. A little late I know. Gonna knit this one with size 6 needles since I'm a little of a loose knitter and she recommends a 7.
While browsing my stash the other night, I found another skein of the very same yarn I'm using to make my afghan/blanket for my bed! Yay! So now I can make another 5 squares before I have to hunt down another color (that is including the rest of the denim colourway I have).
I still also have my second sock on my loom. The finished one lays on my desk taunting me. *sticks tongue out at sock* I'll get to it eventually. I go through phases of loom and needle knitting and now I'm in a needle knitting phase I guess. *shrugs*
I've been sickly for two days and frankly I'm tired of it. I've slept and slept and slept. I'm really wanting to go the Knaughty Knitter this Thursday. We'll see. I usually get called to sub on Thursdays. Go figure.

I finished my dishcloth

Yes! I finally finished my first picture dishcloth. I'll take pics of it tomorrow as it is drying right now. I also finished another block on my blanket and started a new one with a new color. I've been feeling kinda crappy so this was a big feat to finish this today. Now...to decide my next dishcloth...hehehe. It's going to be lavender. That much I know. Off to browse my patterns.

Update on projects OTN

Just thought I'd take some updated pics on my current projects. My blanket is coming along. Got three squares done and finished one skein of yarn. My next 3 squares will be from the pretty denim blue yarn in the pic. My dishcloth is about 3/4 done. I love how the flowers are popping up nicely. My Bird of Paradise scarf is slow going. It isn't an easy fiber to work with.
So, thats what I've got going on. How bout you? What have you got on your needles??

Another sock!

I started another pair of socks. This pair (I've finished one) I adapted from two patterns, one from the pattern I followed last time on the Yarn Gear website and the other from the Reader's Digest Loom Kit sock pattern. I kinda combined the leg part (altered some) from RD and the heel/foot part from Yarn Gear. I'm pretty darn happy with it. I can't tell you the yarn I used as it came from my stash and has long lost its skein wrapper. Hope you like it...now I just have to do my second sock...hehe. I'm out!

I'm getting them!!

My hubby is wonderful! I'm getting my Needlemaster set!!! I found them on sale at Joannes.com for 50 bucks and on ebay for around 30. So, he said ok.....yay me! Yay for knitting! Yay yay yay!

This is a pic of my younger son. He is visiting this week from his dad's house. Just thought I'd put a pic up of him. We're having a good time hanging out together. I do have to work the next three days but that's ok.
I'm out! Just wanted to share my good news.

Lookin for circular needle set

Today, Donovan (my younger son) and I went to Michaels so I could show him the needle set I want for my birthday. I want on of those interchangeable sets with all the needle sizes for straights and circs. I would love a Harmony set but I'd settle for a metal set or a Boye set. I want to start knitting in the round. I have several sweater patterns picked out and purchased even but need the needles to accomplish the task! I have a size 8 and a size 3 but they are unfortunately not what I need. I just can't justify the price right now plus I don't want to buy individual needles when I can buy a whole set, ya know? *sigh*

I doubt I'll get them for my birthday (in June) but ya never know. *smiles*

I'm working still on my dishcloth (I am pitifully slow and easily distracted) and my blanket which will take me a looooong time anyway, and my Bird of Paradise scarf. I post some pics soon.

Something new and fun

Thought I'd show you how I spent my evening. I can't believe I cast on another project but I wanted to do something fast and fun. I decided to make a fun and flirty little scarf with some yummy Yarn Bee Jewelsong in gorgeous Bird of Paradise colourway. It is shimmery and so much fun to knit. Notice my cute little doggie in clothes needles? They were Xmas presents from my son, Donovan. LOVE them!!
Also, I included an updated pic of my dishcloth. The pattern shows better in person. I did frog the sweater I was doing on the KK Loom. I just wasn't happy with it...so it went by the wayside. I got a couple patterns for springy tops and shells but I need the needles and yarn for them still.
I bought some more yarn for my blanket. Same yarn (Yarn Bee Fleece Lite) but in Stonewash colourway. I'll take some pics once I work up a square.

Pattern this time

Well, I'm finally doing a dishcloth with a pattern. When I'm done, I'll post the pattern link with it. It is a spring time pattern, really cute. This is not my pattern btw...lol. I'm not that good. I'm also still working on my squares and my sweater done on the KK Loom. I'm getting kinda flustered with it. It is taking forever to do (the sweater).
Today I'm having a kind of blah day.
Hope everyone is having a great day.

Squares squares and more squares

I'm working on an afghan for my bed. This is square one! Yay! I've just barely started square two. I'm also working on a sweater that is knit on my KK Yellow Loom. I would take a pic but all it really looks like right now is a hat on there or something. lol. It is knit in four pieces with flat panel knitting. It is therefore taking a while. I'm knitting it with two strands of Homespun in two different colors.
I wish Ravelry had a way to show knitting with looms too....maybe they will work on that at some point. *shrug*
We have snow here tonight! It is falling in big fat flakes. I get to stay home tomorrow since the pest control guy is coming (we have a mouse). I am going to clean in the morning and knit all afternoon. Yippee! Probably they will cancel school anyway. They do when the snow barely falls.
OH! I also found out from my dear friend and The Yarn Harlot's blog that she is coming to Nashville soon for a book signing of her newest book. I am going!!!
Well ya'll...I'm out

Another hat for me this time!

I did my first roll up hat on my Knifty Knitter and some cool yarn I got from the yarn stash a couple weeks ago! I love it! It is so light and airy feeling and black and white are favs of mine.

Now, believe it or not, I have nothing OTN! I bought a summer top pattern booklet today and although I don't have the yarn for the top I want, I will soon!

I'm also going to start a blanket with squares sewn today...an afghan I guess. I'm going to use size 11 needles I think. It will be a mix of different chunky yarns....each square different.

Well, that's it...I'm out!

The dreaded 2nd sock syndrome

I did it! I beat 2nd Sock Syndrome! I had that itching feeling going on. That...omg, I've already done this once feeling. HA! But I did it and I did it better! I made the second slipper sock with ribbing on the cuff so it isn't so loose. Course, now they don't match exactly...lol...but hey they are for me around the house and they are my first pair so who cares!?

I'm still working on my dishcloth. I had to rip back a few rows. I keep getting confused watching tv or something and purl when I'm supposed to knit or some such mistake. Argh! It is only for my kitchen but I'm a little anal about it I guess.

Today I'm subbing for pre-schoolers and they are at art so I guess I should go get them.

Toodles...

Finished one sock

Well, I finished one of my slipper socks! It is a tad loose around the ankle so I'm doing ribbing on the other one. I know they'll look different but hey...they are for me around the house and it is a learning process right? hehe
You can get the pattern for these on Yarngear.com.

New Projects OTN and snow!

Today is a snow day!!! Yay! Except that I have my dd underfoot but we've had fun today. I'm working on making slipper socks on my KK Loom. Lexi made a snow angel on our porch...lol...and we've decorated a shoe box for school valentines. I actually even got off a letter to my pen pal today. So, I feel pretty productive even tho the house is still a wreck. Hope you all are able to get some knitting done today. I also plan to do some reading in my new book...Knitting Circle!

Another Dishcloth

Cast on another dishcloth this week. I rather like it. It is using up scraps of cotton I received from my dear friend Spillman with my yarnpalooza last weekend. I also made an infant cap on my KK loom for a hospital (probably St. Judes). It is so darling but I didn't take a pic of it yet.
Tomorrow I get to go to the Knaughty Knitter for some much needed down time. I really don't want to take my dd with me but she loves to go...ugh. That is my only time away from everything, ya know?
Well, guess I'm out for now...

Whoopie! Yarn frenzy!

Last night was the Superbowl (good game btw) and we went to a friend's house for the game. This friend is a knitter...guess what she let me do? Shop her stash for free! I brought home a garbage sized sack full of yarn. Some of it is unlabled so I am not sure what it is. Some of it (quite a bit) is cotton dishcloth yarn. Yay, I've been wanting some more of that. Anyway, I was and am quite excited.

I'm almost done with my scarf on my blue KK loom. It is sooo thick and warm! Now, I have to decide what else to put on the needles. Much of the yarn I received will be put to charity knitting. Baby caps and such. Now I'm off to record as much as I can in my stash section at Ravelry!

Hope you all enjoyed your Superbowl gatherings if you had one and your knitting time!
