My hand is finally better!

I know its been three months almost since I've blogged! I haven't been able to knit at all due to tendonitis. I got a cortisone shot in my hand several weeks ago and it finally helped! I'm able to shuffle cards again too which is nice since I play cards every monday night.

I finished up RayJay's Christmas scarf (pictures later), did some more work on my blanket squares and am now working on a dishcloth I started months ago. It is a picture cloth with the three Easter crosses on it. I'm a little over halfway done.

Now, for the big news. I separated from my husband and couldn't be happier about it actually. I feel like a tremendous weight has been lifted off me. I'm more calm and peaceful now. I moved into a cute little house with all my children and my son's gf. We live right in town which is convenient. We decorated for Christmas and it is so cheery in here.

Anway, guess that's it for now. I'll be blogging and updating my pics and Ravelry too now that I'm knitting again.

Its been a long time

Well, Wal-mart has been keeping me pretty busy as you probably guessed. I have so much to update, it just isn't funny. First off, I've had to quit cashiering and move to the fitting room. I started getting some kind of ligament or something going on in my right hand. Lifting the things across the scanner just strained it too badly. Update of that is, my hand still hurts even tho I'm not cashiering so I have to go to a hand specialist...geez. I had to take a small pay cut in order to go to the fitting room but I actually like it better. So, it all works out. The only drag is the hours. I'm working all nights. I do have some good days off tho. Monday and Thursday nights. Monday is card night with Maggie and Steven and Thursday is Grey's Anatomy (tonight is the season premiere!). Bill hates me working this schedule but I had to do something. Cashiering was really hurting my hand.

Due to the problem with my hand, I haven't really been knitting either. It makes my hand ache afterwards. I've done some work on my sweater but I really need to just bite the bullet and get cracking on it since it is now fall and it is a summer sweater...lol.

Now for the newest news. I have developed shingles. In case you don't know, shingles is caused by the dormant chicken pox virus which stays in your nerve endings forever after you have the pox. Stress is the most common factor to bring out shingles. It causes a red blistery rash which is actually not the worst part. The worst part is the nerve pain which goes down my arm into my left hand...*eyeroll* and my left elbow. It is now pretty painful. I'm taking some strong meds to help it go away. Hopefully we caught it early enough like the doctor thinks we did.

So, I know this hasn't been much about knitting, but I did want to catch up any straggling readers I have left on what I've been doing. Hang in there...I haven't thrown in my needles yet!

Wally World

Things have been slammin busy! I started working at Wal-Mart part time and these past two weeks, its been more like full time with training. Am I tired!? You betcha. I'm not used to this. But, I am liking it. I took my sweater to work and left it in my locker so I've been knitting on it during my lunch and breaks. I'm actually getting more done on it than I was at home which is a good thing.

I haven't really been doing much other knitting since I've been cross stitching too. I started teaching a friend at work to knit last night. I'm going to bring her my Knit Cafe video to help her along.

Well, no pics today. And I'm out.

I'm still alive...and still knitting!

See? I'm still knitting...hehe. I've been so busy with Lexi and VBS and church I've hardly had time to really work on my sweater but here it is. I love how it is looking. I'm very proud of it actually. I'm also still working on Bill's remote holder but it doesn't look much different so I haven't taken any new pics. The crocheting is slow going. I had to rip it all out since I was missing a stitch every row and my scarf kept getting narrower and narrower. LOL.

Here is a pic of my daughter at VBS...she had such a great time and so did I. I volunteered in the craft area as a crafts teacher. Right up my alley eh?

Well it is Saturday and I'm going to try to finish the first ball of yarn on my sweater and start number two today. We're going to watch a movie later so I should get some primo knitting time.

Crocheting? Me?

Yup! I am learning to crochet! I am mostly doing it because I want to learn to put edges on things that require such. I don't want to keep being put off by knitting patterns that list a crochet hook in the instructions, ya know?

So, I'm just making a simple little double crochet scarf. I know it isn't much but it will do.

I've been doing a lot on my sweater too. I didn't take a pic of that tho...oops!

My birthday is in three days and I can't wait. I'm going shopping for a new outfit for my party (which is Saturday) tomorrow I hope.

Progress and time well spent

I've been working hard on my remote control caddy and my new sweater. In the process, I made a wrist band for my daughter with the yarn from the sweater. She hasn't taken it off since I put it on her. Check out my progress. Tomorrow I'm going shopping for some knitting goodies!

I quickly made up another loomed hat out of that yummy Lion Suede I got at Big Lots. Wow does this hat feel nice. Gonna have to get some more sueded yarn. It feels wonderful. I was going to give this away but I think I'll pick up some more yarn and make myself a scarf to go with it.
I'm still working on my other projects otn. I'm also looking forward to The Middle TN Sheep, Wool, and Fiber Festival this month. I'm teaching a looming class to kids!

Bird of Paradise Skinny Scarf gets a home

Well I finished my skinny scarf...finally!! When I was finishing it up...I realized it really didn't belong to me but to my darling daughter who has been loving it since I started it. So, I gave it to her. This is her modeling it!
Now I've got my size 10 needles free to do my felted coasters. Today I got some more yarn at Hobby Lobby. I got some Sugar and Cream Striping yarn in holiday stripes to make placemats. Also bought my son's yarn for his birthday. Got him Bernat Alpaca because he fell in love with it last month when we were shopping. I'm off to knit before Grey's Anatomy comes on!

My First Felting! A Success!

I was working on making some coasters actually but couldn't find any pattern anywhere with dimensions and roughly the amount of skrinkage...sooo...I decided to make a bookmark and test shrink the wool. I used Caron Felt-It by the wayin Rose Garden.

I definately won't make my squares with as many stitches cast on as it would be way to long for coasters. But, as a bookmark...it turned out just fine.

I cast on 35 stitches and did garter stitch until my piece was about 3 inches (I forgot to measure exactly). I machine felted. I LOVE it! I can't wait to do my coasters!!

Just had to share my new skill. Have a great week!

What I've been doin

I've been reading actually...tons of reading. But when I've pulled out my knitting, I've been working on my afghan and my skinny scarf! I really haven't done any knitting on my 3 Crosses dishcloth lately. And I certainly haven't finished my second sock made on my Knifty Knitter. *eyeroll* Yep second sock syndrome. I hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather. We've had a late frost tonight. Ick. I'm reading for warm weather.

Pen Pals

I've been having so much fun with my knitting pen pals. I got a lovely Easter card from Christina and today I got a card from Lora with the tiniest little sock in it! I LOVE it! What am I going to do with it? Don't know but I love it. Right now I have it displayed on top of my computer monitor.
So, thanks guys for my card and my sockie! You are wonderful!!!

Lola's new do

Lola got a haircut! She got a Lion Cut to be precise. She looks so adorable, I just had to put her on here. And Lexi posed her with one of my preemie loomed hats on her. I started my new crosses dishcloth but it isn't much to see yet. I've worked some more on my skinny scarf and finished almost another block on my afghan/blanket. Nothing terribly exciting here...

Springing Up Flowers

Ok, so I need to work on my blocking. lol. I'm not so good at it. But the dishcloth turned out just fine. Here is where I got the pattern and it's free! http://krisknits.blogspot.com/ It is called Springing Up Flowers.
I've decided on my next one. It is called Knitted Three Crosses and you can find it here http://www.knittingknonsense.com./3crossescloth.html.\ I'm doing it in the lavender as I mentioned...kinda an Easter cloth. A little late I know. Gonna knit this one with size 6 needles since I'm a little of a loose knitter and she recommends a 7.
While browsing my stash the other night, I found another skein of the very same yarn I'm using to make my afghan/blanket for my bed! Yay! So now I can make another 5 squares before I have to hunt down another color (that is including the rest of the denim colourway I have).
I still also have my second sock on my loom. The finished one lays on my desk taunting me. *sticks tongue out at sock* I'll get to it eventually. I go through phases of loom and needle knitting and now I'm in a needle knitting phase I guess. *shrugs*
I've been sickly for two days and frankly I'm tired of it. I've slept and slept and slept. I'm really wanting to go the Knaughty Knitter this Thursday. We'll see. I usually get called to sub on Thursdays. Go figure.

I finished my dishcloth

Yes! I finally finished my first picture dishcloth. I'll take pics of it tomorrow as it is drying right now. I also finished another block on my blanket and started a new one with a new color. I've been feeling kinda crappy so this was a big feat to finish this today. Now...to decide my next dishcloth...hehehe. It's going to be lavender. That much I know. Off to browse my patterns.

Update on projects OTN

Just thought I'd take some updated pics on my current projects. My blanket is coming along. Got three squares done and finished one skein of yarn. My next 3 squares will be from the pretty denim blue yarn in the pic. My dishcloth is about 3/4 done. I love how the flowers are popping up nicely. My Bird of Paradise scarf is slow going. It isn't an easy fiber to work with.
So, thats what I've got going on. How bout you? What have you got on your needles??
